England have to settle for draw against Sri Lanka

England maintained a 1-0 series lead after they drew the second Test of the three-match contest against Sri Lanka.

 

Cook reached his 18th Test match ton with his 106 at Lord's against Sri Lanka

Alastair Cook scored 106 and Kevin Pietersen 72 as England declared on 335-7 and set the tourists an unlikely 343 from 58 overs to win.
The more likely outcome was Sri Lanka collapsing like in the first Test and they quickly lost Kumar Sangakkara.
Mahela Jayarwardene and Tharanga Paranavitana were also dismissed but Sri Lanka survived until the close.
